Coarse chip structure creates massive air pockets that fine coir pith cannot match. Roots access oxygen freely between irrigations — critical for cannabis, orchids, and high-frequency drip systems.
Triple-washed at source before compression. Every batch lab-tested. Consistent low EC means your nutrient program starts clean — no salt flushing required. Lab reports available on request.
Fine chips (6–9mm) for cannabis and vegetables. Medium chips (12–18mm) for orchids and anthuriums. Custom blend for mixed aeration requirements. Specify at order.
Certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute. Free from prohibited substances, weed seeds, pathogens, and heavy metals. Safe for certified organic farming under USDA NOP and Canada Organic.
Husk chips maintain their structure far longer than coir pith. Commercial orchid growers report 3–5 year usable life before breakdown. Gradually releases organic matter as it composts.
No customs delays, no container waiting. Our Cambridge warehouse ships to every Canadian province and US state. Pallet orders dispatch within 2–3 business days.

Husk chips and coir pith are both made from coconut — but they perform very differently in the root zone. Here's how to choose.
| Property | Husk Chips | Coir Pith |
|---|---|---|
| Texture | Coarse chunks 6–18mm | Fine peat-like fibre |
| Air Porosity | ~80% — Superior | ~28% — Good |
| Drainage | Excellent | Moderate |
| Moisture Retention | Medium | High |
| Decomposition | Slow — multi-season | Moderate |
| Best For | Orchids, cannabis, hydro | Cannabis, tomato, propagation |
| Mix With | Coir pith for balance | Perlite for aeration |
| OMRI Certified | Yes | Yes |
Many commercial growers blend 70% husk chips + 30% coir pith for balanced aeration and moisture. Custom blends available at order.
Request a Custom Blend Quote →Rehydrating our coco husk chip block takes about 20–25 minutes. One 5kg block expands to 70–75 litres of airy, structured growing medium.
Set the block in a tub or wheelbarrow of at least 80L capacity. The chips expand significantly — allow plenty of room.
Pour water evenly and slowly over the block. The chips absorb water at their own pace — allow full absorption before handling.
Chips take slightly longer than coir pith to fully hydrate due to their density. Check that the centre of the block has fully expanded.
Break apart gently with a fork. Use directly as a standalone substrate, mix with coir pith for balanced moisture, or use as a mulch layer.

The gold standard substrate for orchids, anthuriums, and bromeliads. Medium and coarse chips (12–18mm) replicate the bark-on-tree environment these plants evolved in. Superior drainage prevents crown rot.
Blended with coir pith at 30/70 or 50/50 for high-frequency drip systems. The chip fraction prevents substrate compaction over a long growing season and maintains root-zone oxygen.
Low EC and high porosity make husk chips ideal for recirculating systems. Compatible with all major nutrient programs. Rinses clean between crop cycles.
Mix with coir pith for tomato, cucumber, and pepper production. The chip fraction maintains structure and drainage across a full commercial season without compaction.
Spread around established plants as a moisture-retaining, weed-suppressing mulch. OMRI-listed — safe for certified organic vegetable and fruit production.
Chemical-free, pathogen-tested husk chips make a safe, natural substrate for reptile terrariums, bioactive enclosures, and amphibian habitats. Popular with Canadian reptile keepers.

Avee Cocoseller's coco husk chips blocks are Canada's best-value factory-direct high-aeration substrate. We manufacture at our own coconut processing facility in Tamil Nadu — triple-washing and compressing each batch before shipping direct to our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse for same-week dispatch to Canadian and US growers.
Pine bark is the traditional orchid substrate in North America, but it degrades quickly in high-humidity greenhouse conditions and carries inconsistent EC and pH. Coconut husk chips offer the same chunky, air-rich structure, decompose more slowly, and arrive with a documented EC below 0.5 mS/cm. Canadian orchid growers are switching rapidly — driven by availability, consistency, and OMRI certification.
We stock fine (6–9mm), medium (12–18mm), and coarse chip grades, plus custom blends with coir pith. Specify your chip size and blend ratio at order. Available from single blocks to full container loads.
Our compressed coco husk chip blocks serve growers across the full spectrum — from home orchid enthusiasts to commercial cannabis licensed producers and large-scale hydroponic operations. The 5kg block format ships efficiently and expands to 70–75 litres of ready-to-use substrate. One pallet of 220 blocks provides over 15,000 litres of high-aeration growing medium.
We ship from Cambridge, Ontario to all ten Canadian provinces. Our fastest lanes serve Ontario's Leamington greenhouse corridor, Niagara Region, and Greater Toronto.
