Commercial Coco Grow Bag
Specification Guide

Bag length, planting-hole spacing, drainage cuts, and pith-to-chip ratio — built to your bench or gutter system, not a fixed retail size.

The Problem

Off-the-shelf bags don’t fit every system.

Commercial greenhouse systems use different bench widths, gutter spacing, plant densities and irrigation layouts. The grow bag should be specified against that system rather than selected by a city or a generic catalogue size.

A bag sized for a generic retail garden-centre program frequently has the wrong hole spacing for your plant density, the wrong drainage pattern for your irrigation volume, or an expanded height that doesn’t clear your gutter lip. Ordering a fixed-spec bag and adjusting your growing practice around it is backwards — the bag should be built around your system.

Made-to-Order Construction

Built to your bench, gutter, and irrigation system.

Avee manufactures coco pith and husk-chip grow bags to a specification confirmed with you before production, using a common base formulation of 70% pith to 30% chip by volume — adjustable depending on your target air-filled porosity and irrigation frequency.

Primary Product

Custom Grow Bags & Slabs

Length, width, expanded height, planting-hole layout, and drainage pattern are all confirmed against your bench or gutter system — not applied as a single default across every bag size. Custom dimensions and configurations may be available depending on order volume; we confirm specification and minimum quantities during quotation.

Companion Formats

Grow Slabs & Coco Chips

For propagation, top-dressing, or crops better suited to a slab format than a bag, Avee also supplies commercial coco grow slabs in the same pith/chip family, plus loose coco husk chips, propagation cubes, and seed-starting pellets — typically specified alongside a bag order for a full-cycle program.

Bag Specification Mechanics

Every dimension confirmed against your system.

Bag footprint is set to match your bench or gutter run — give us your run length and target plants-per-bag and we work backwards to a fitting length. Bags ship compressed for freight efficiency (a typical ratio in the range used for our 5 kg block format is roughly 5:1) and expand once irrigated; confirm your target expanded height against your gutter clearance before finalizing an order. Planting-hole count and centre-to-centre spacing are set to your plant density per crop, and drainage-slit number, length, and placement are confirmed against your irrigation volume and frequency — neither is applied as a single default across every bag size. The 70/30 pith-to-chip blend is our common commercial formulation; ratio can be adjusted for crops needing higher air-filled porosity (more chip) or higher water-holding capacity (more pith). Substrate pH runs 5.5–6.5, EC below 0.5 mS/cm using our stated test method, and material is triple-washed before compression.

Production Lead Time

Custom bags vs. Cambridge-stocked inventory.

Custom bag specifications are made-to-order, so they ship on a production and freight schedule confirmed in your quotation — different from stock-item dispatch. Orders for products already held at our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse dispatch from Cambridge when the requested item is available there; contact us to confirm current availability before assuming stock. For larger seasonal volumes, container-direct supply from our manufacturing operations in Pollachi and Peravurani, Tamil Nadu may also be quoted as an alternative route.

Send us your bag specification along with product, quantity, and destination postal code and we’ll return an accurate freight and transit estimate — transit depends on all three.

Local Context

From regional greenhouse requirements to a reusable specification.

This guide preserves the useful specification knowledge developed for Windsor–Essex greenhouse buyers, but applies it to commercial operations across North America. Procurement teams should compare dimensions, root-zone litres, dry weight, particle distribution, water-holding and aeration targets, film, planting holes, drainage, pallet build and batch documentation—not repeat the same sales copy for every city.

Manufacturing

Manufactured by Avee, documented on request.

Grow bags are built from coco pith and husk chip processed at Avee’s own manufacturing operations in Pollachi and Peravurani, Tamil Nadu — factory-direct means Avee manufactures its own material, not that bags are assembled in Canada. Batch documentation covering EC, pH, and wash processing is available on request for any order; ask for it when you request your bag specification quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Dimensions are set to your bench or gutter run rather than a fixed catalogue size. Send us your bench/gutter length, target plants-per-bag, and crop type, and we’ll work up a specification and quote — custom dimensions are subject to order volume and production confirmation.
Hole count and centre-to-centre spacing are set to your target plant density for the crop you’re growing — tomato, pepper, cucumber, and berry programs typically use different spacing. We confirm layout with you before production rather than applying a single default across all bag sizes.
Yes, drainage-slit number, length, and placement can be specified to match your irrigation volume and frequency. This is confirmed as part of the same specification process as bag dimensions and hole layout — let us know your irrigation program when you request a quote.
70% pith to 30% chip is our common commercial formulation, but the ratio can be adjusted toward more chip for higher air-filled porosity or more pith for higher water retention, depending on your crop and irrigation schedule. Confirm your target ratio when specifying your order.
Custom-specified bags are made-to-order and ship on the production and freight schedule confirmed in your quotation. Products already held at our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse dispatch from there when available — contact us to confirm current stock for any specific item, since availability varies by SKU and season.
Yes — grow slabs, loose coco chips, propagation cubes, and seed-starting pellets can be quoted together with a bag order for growers planning a full production cycle. Send your crop list and target volumes and we’ll put together a combined specification and quote.
