Calculate Your Bales
Measure your stall. A 12×12 foot stall needs 5–6 bales for a full initial bed at 6–8 inches depth. A 10×10 needs 4 bales. A 14×14 needs 7–8 bales. Use the yield guide to the right to plan your first order and weekly top-up volume.
Expand the Bale
Place the compressed bale in the stall or a tub. Add approximately 4–5 litres of water per bale. Allow 10–15 minutes to fully expand. The bale will swell to 5× its compressed size. Break up any clumps with a fork.
Spread and Level
Distribute the expanded coir evenly across the stall floor to 6–8 inches depth. Rake level. The surface is ready immediately — no drying time required. No machinery or special equipment needed, just a pitchfork.
Daily Spot-Picking
