Coco husk chips, 5kg block — ~80% air porosity.
Manufactured at our own Tamil Nadu facility from coarse-cut coconut husks — the highest-aeration substrate available for orchids, cannabis, and hydroponics. Ships from our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse across Canada, the USA, and Mexico.

Coarse chip structure gives roots the oxygen fine coir pith can't — without sacrificing the consistency commercial growers depend on.
Coarse chip structure creates large air pockets fine coir pith can't match. Roots access oxygen freely between irrigations — critical for cannabis, orchids, and high-frequency drip systems.
Every batch is triple-washed at source before compression, then lab-tested. Consistent low EC means your nutrient program starts clean — no salt flushing required.
Fine chips (6–9mm) suit cannabis and vegetables; medium chips (12–18mm) suit orchids and anthuriums. A custom blend is available for mixed aeration needs.
Certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute — free from prohibited substances, weed seeds, pathogens, and heavy metals. Safe for organic farming under USDA NOP and Canada Organic standards.
Husk chips hold their structure far longer than coir pith. Commercial orchid growers typically report 3–5 years of usable life before breakdown.

Rehydrating our coco husk chip block takes about 20–25 minutes. One 5kg block expands to 70–75 litres of airy, structured growing medium.
Set the block in a tub or wheelbarrow of at least 80L capacity. The chips expand significantly, so allow plenty of room before adding water.
Pour evenly and slowly over the block. The chips absorb water at their own pace, so allow full absorption before handling the medium.
Chips take slightly longer than coir pith to fully hydrate due to their density. Check that the centre of the block has fully expanded before proceeding.
Break apart gently with a fork, then use directly as a standalone substrate, mix with coir pith for balanced moisture, or apply as a mulch layer.

The gold standard substrate for orchids, anthuriums, and bromeliads. Medium and coarse chips replicate the bark-on-tree environment these plants evolved in, and superior drainage prevents crown rot.
Blended with coir pith at 30/70 or 50/50 for high-frequency drip systems. The chip fraction prevents substrate compaction, keeping root-zone oxygen consistent through the crop cycle.
Low EC and high porosity make husk chips ideal for recirculating systems. They rinse clean between crop cycles — a cost-efficient choice for multi-cycle operations.
Mix with coir pith for tomato, cucumber, and pepper production. The chip fraction maintains structure and drainage across a full season, even under high-frequency fertigation.
Spread around established plants as a moisture-retaining, weed-suppressing mulch. OMRI-listed and safe for certified organic vegetable and fruit production.
Chemical-free, pathogen-tested husk chips make a safe, natural substrate for reptile terrariums, bioactive enclosures, and amphibian habitats.

Avee Cocoseller's coco husk chips blocks are Canada's best-value factory-direct high-aeration substrate. We manufacture at our own coconut processing facility in Tamil Nadu — triple-washing and compressing each batch before shipping directly to our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse for same-week dispatch to Canadian and US growers, with Mexico distribution expanding.
Pine bark is the traditional orchid substrate in North America, but it degrades quickly in high-humidity greenhouse conditions and carries inconsistent EC and pH. Coconut husk chips offer the same chunky, air-rich structure, decompose more slowly, and arrive with a documented EC below 0.5 mS/cm. Orchid growers are switching rapidly — driven by availability, consistency, and OMRI certification. For more on orchid substrate requirements, see the RHS guide to growing moth orchids.
We stock fine (6–9mm), medium (12–18mm), and coarse chip grades, plus custom blends with coir pith. Specify your chip size and blend ratio at order — available from single blocks to full container loads. Contact us for a quote.
Our compressed coco husk chip blocks serve growers across the full spectrum — from home orchid enthusiasts to commercial cannabis licensed producers and large-scale hydroponic operations. The 5kg block format ships efficiently and expands to 70–75 litres of ready-to-use substrate. One pallet of 220 blocks provides over 15,000 litres of high-aeration growing medium at the lowest cost per litre.
