Why Growers Choose Avee Seed Starter Pellets

The cleanest, easiest seed start available.

No mixing, no measuring, no transplant stress — just add water and plant.

01
EXPANDS FAST

7–10× in under 10 minutes

Add water and the compressed pellet opens into a full, airy growing medium in 5–10 minutes. No mixing, no measuring — each pellet is a self-contained starter unit ready to plant the moment it expands.

02
NO SHOCK

Zero transplant shock

The entire pellet transplants directly into your final growing medium — soil, a coco bag, or a hydroponic system. No root disturbance, no recovery time; seedlings keep growing without interruption.

03
CLEAN EC

Triple-washed, below 0.8 mS/cm

Freshly germinated seeds and young cuttings are extremely sensitive to salt stress. Our pellets are triple-washed to a consistently low EC — the safest starting point for any seed variety or genetic.

04
ANTI-MOLD

Naturally resists damping-off

Coco coir's natural lignin content inhibits fungal growth more effectively than peat. Balanced moisture retention prevents the stagnant conditions that cause damping-off and stem rot in seedlings.

05
NETTED OR NAKED

Your choice, either way

Standard netted pellets hold their shape through germination and transplant. Naked pellets suit direct integration into hydroponic systems. Both formats available — specify at order.

How to Use

Seed to transplant in 5 simple steps

From dry pellet to rooted seedling ready for transplant — clean, fast, and mess-free at any scale.

1

Place in tray

Arrange pellets in a standard propagation tray or flat container, spaced evenly for good airflow.

2

Add water

Pour pH-balanced water at 5.8–6.2 evenly over the pellets — they expand fully in 5–10 minutes with no stirring.

3

Plant seeds

Press one seed per pellet into the central dimple. For cuttings, push the stem 2–3cm in and firm gently.

4

Maintain

Keep moist but not waterlogged — the coir's balanced retention makes overwatering difficult. A dome at 22–26°C speeds germination.

5

Transplant

Once roots appear at the pellet edge, transplant the entire pellet into your final medium — no removal, no disturbance.

Who It's For

Who uses Avee seed starter pellets

Vegetables

Vegetable seedling production

Tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, and brassicas all start well in our pellets. Standard 42mm pellets fit most commercial plug trays for high-volume seedling production.

Herbs

Herbs & leafy greens

Basil, mint, lettuce, kale, celery, and microgreens all benefit from a clean, low-EC start. The 30mm pellets suit high-density trays, preventing salt stress on fast-growing leafy crops.

Soft Fruit

Soft fruits & berries

Strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry propagation from seed or runners works well in these pellets, keeping berries consistently hydrated through the critical early rooting phase.

Nursery

Commercial nurseries

Bulk wholesale pellets for year-round seedling production, with consistent diameter for automated transplanting equipment and custom quantities for any operation.

Cannabis

Cannabis & floriculture

Suitable for seed germination and cutting propagation for cannabis and ornamental crops. Ultra-low EC protects sensitive new genetics, and the pellets are fully biodegradable.

Home

Home gardeners & urban growers

The cleanest, simplest way to start seeds indoors — no soil mess, no measuring, no pots needed until transplant. Available in packs from 100 pellets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Seed starter pellets — questions answered

The most common questions from Canadian, US, and Mexican growers. Don't see yours? Ask us directly.

Are coco coir pellets better than Jiffy peat pellets? +
For most growers, yes. Coco pellets arrive at pH 5.5–6.5, so no pre-soak is needed. Peat pellets, by contrast, are naturally acidic (pH 4.0–5.0) and require adjustment before sensitive seeds or cuttings can be planted. Coco also resists mold better and is a renewable resource — peat is not.
What size pellet should I use for seeds vs cuttings? +
30mm (1.2") pellets are standard for small seeds, herbs, and cannabis cuttings. 42mm (1.65") pellets provide more medium volume for larger seeds and vigorous cuttings such as tomato and pepper. Custom sizes are available for commercial operations.
Do I need to pH-adjust the water before hydrating the pellets? +
We recommend water at pH 5.8–6.2 for best results. Unlike peat pellets, our coco pellets don't require a corrective pre-soak since they arrive within the optimal pH range. For cannabis, a mild nutrient solution at EC 0.4–0.6 is common practice among Canadian LPs.
Can I get naked pellets without the netting? +
Yes. Standard pellets come with biodegradable cellulose netting that holds the pellet shape during germination and transplant. Naked (un-netted) pellets are available for growers who prefer direct integration into hydroponic systems or custom trays — specify your preference at order.
What is the minimum order quantity? +
The minimum order is 100 pellets. Bulk pricing begins at 500 pellets and improves significantly at 1,000 and pallet quantities. Custom quantities are also available for commercial operations.
Do you ship coco seed starter pellets to the USA and Mexico? +
Yes to the USA — we ship from our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse to all 50 states via parcel courier for smaller orders and cross-border LTL freight for pallet volumes. Mexico shipping lanes are expanding; contact us to confirm current availability and freight cost for your region.

Buy coco coir seed starter pellets in Canada — factory-direct from Avee Cocoseller

Avee Cocoseller's coco coir seed starter pellets are manufactured at our own Tamil Nadu facility and shipped directly from our Cambridge, Ontario warehouse, with Mexico distribution expanding. Every pellet is triple-washed fine coir pith, compressed for shipping efficiency and expanding 7–10× on hydration — no middlemen, no aged stock, just direct factory-to-grower supply.

Why growers are switching from peat to coco pellets

Canada's peat bogs are a protected resource, and federal and provincial regulations are tightening around peat extraction. Commercial nurseries and greenhouse operations are proactively switching to coco-based starters to future-proof their supply chains. Coco pellets match peat's performance in every measurable way, and outperform it in pH stability, mold resistance, and re-wettability. For more on sustainable growing media, see the RHS guidance on peat-free growing.
